About
The 18th Musician is a classical guitarist and composer. After becoming a progressive rock nerd in his youth (an affliction he still lives with today), he was influenced by his idols Steve Howe and Alex Lifeson to try classical guitar. This led to a study of the instrument and music at the university level which had a profound and lasting impact (including his realization that he was and still is surrounded by other musicians having a level of talent and musicianship he could only dream of possessing).It was during that time that he was exposed to music that forever shaped him, including composers like Stravinsky, Debussy, Ravel, Vaughan Williams, and Steve Reich. The pseudonym 'The 18th Musician' is an homage to Reich and his enduring Music for 18 Musicians. The 18th Musician has also always had a love for great film/tv composers such as Goldsmith, Horner, and Williams.After a long hiatus from music, he recently decided to refocus on the guitar and composition. His style is difficult to define, but he hopes that it somewhat reveals his love for a variety of genres and influences.Dream Wandering is the first full-length release by The 18th Musician. It uses the orchestra and classical guitar to capture a journey to revisit a dream. The dream is lost, found, lost again, and finally kept. Along the way, some time awake, other dreams, and even nightmares form part of the dream wandering journey.
